1. You should first consult the livestock rearing agency in your area of residence to enquire if you can be allowed to raise livestock animals like pigs and so on.

Most countries have certain rule and regulations to adhere to before you can be allowed to start your own livestock farm especially hogs.

2. You need to have a plan or better still a business plan on the quantity of hogs you will be rearing. This depends on the space of land you have. The pig's housing system is usually about 40 to 50 square feet.

Another thing to check is the amount if capital required to establish your pig farm. Assuming you are starting your pig farm with more than two pigs, you will spend more than when you start with one. It is best to start your pig farm in small like with one male (boar)  and two females (sows).

I believe starting with three pigs will help you learn more about them and also properly care for them. After you have gotten used to raising the few pigs, then you can now bring in more.

3. Once you start expecting babies from your pigs, it is required you provide more shelter for them. A quality housing pen will be quite suitable for them. This pen will at least  protect your pigs from climatic changes (cold and hot temperatures) and also from predators as well.

Construct the pens to be big enough in other to contain the pigs as they grow. All the required equipments like the feeding trough and drinkers should be included while constructing the pen.

The housing pen should be fenced either with electric wire or blocks depending on farmers choice. This will help the pigs to roam about the farm safely without trying to escape.

4. Assuming your sole aim for pigs is for meat consumption, then you should know that nutrition is the most important thing to consider. So endeavor that your pigs are fed well with the right quantity of nutrients.
